Yorktown High School’s varsity cheerleaders made history this past weekend with a fifth-place finish at the National High School Cheerleading Championship in Disney World.
The Huskers’ performance in the Game Day division marked the program’s highest national finish ever. Yorktown has competed at the NHSCC for more than 10 years, but the past three seasons have been the most successful.
In 2024, the varsity squad advanced to the semifinals in both the Traditional and Game Day divisions. Last year, they reached the finals in the Traditional division and finished 11th nationally, the highest placement in program history at the time.
This year, the team returned to the competition and performed five times over a 36-hour weekend, culminating in their record-setting fifth-place finish in the Game Day division.
The Huskers have set a new benchmark for the program, continuing a run of historic achievements on the national stage.
