Uncle Giuseppe’s Missing Man Table joins Yorktown Memorial Day observances

Posted

Uncle Giuseppe's Marketplace is honoring fallen service members ahead of Memorial Day with a Missing Man Table display, a symbolic tribute recognizing those who never returned home and underscoring the meaning of the holiday beyond its traditional start to summer.

The display will join a series of community observances planned throughout Yorktown on Monday as the town pays tribute to all who served.

Events begin at 9 a.m. at the Vietnam Memorial at Lakeland High School, followed by a 10 a.m. observance at the World War II Memorial at John C. Hart Library and an 11 a.m. ceremony at The Veteran Memorials Circle, where the Korean War Monument will be rededicated.

The 11 a.m. program will include a brief ceremony and a rendition of “Taps,” followed by the Memorial Day Parade stepping off at approximately 11:20 a.m. from Yorktown Town Hall. The parade will conclude on Veterans Road near the VFW and American Legion posts. Participants are asked to assemble behind Town Hall at The Veteran Memorials Circle at 10:45 a.m.
