Thomas Roderick Davies (Ron) of Brewster, N.Y., passed away peacefully at Danbury Hospital on May 30, 2025, at the age of 85.
Tom was born in Wilkes-Barre, P.A, on March 17, 1940, to David J. and Magdalene Davies. On August 10, 1963, Tom married the love of his life, Mary Mahoney at Our Lady of Snows Church in Queens, N.Y.Tom served his country as a paratrooper in the 101st Airborne Division of the U.S. Army.
Tom resided in Putnam Lake, N.Y. for 53 years until moving to Brewster, N.Y. He had a long career in senior management at Geis Auto Mall in Peekskill, N.Y. Tom was a dedicated, hard-working, and well-known member of his community. Tom spent 50 years in the Putnam Lake Fire Department where he was a Deputy Chief and life member. He became Deputy Fire Coordinator with the Putnam County Bureau of Emergency Services, where he served for 32 years. Tom was also a dedicated EMT for several decades of his fire department service. Tom enjoyed being a director for the Starfires Drum Corps for many years.
Tom was known for his spontaneous humor and unwavering character that made him a pillar of both his community and his family. Outside of serving his community and supporting his family, Tom enjoyed watching Yankees games with his wife. During the NFL season, he was a devoted Minnesota Vikings fan. Tom was a kind-hearted soul who was a joy to be around. He was an individual who you could rely on in the best and worst times.
Tom is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Mary Davies; two children: son, Tom Davies; daughter, Kathryn Raines; five grandchildren: T.J., Brenden, and Dylan Davies and Kierstyn and Jared Raines; two great-grandchildren: Lucas and Lily Davies. He was predeceased by his sisters Megan Maiette and Brenda Evangelow and brother David S. Davies.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 5, 2025 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Beecher Funeral Home, 1 Putnam Ave. Brewster, N.Y. 10509. During the visitation, Putnam Lake Volunteer Fire Department (PLFD) will honor Ron with a ceremony at 6 p.m.
The funeral Mass will be held on Friday, June 6, 2025 at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, 414 Haviland Dr. Patterson, N.Y. 12563. Interment to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne, NY.
