The Taghkanic Chorale is set to begin its Spring 2025 season and is inviting prospective singers to attend its first rehearsal of the new year.
Under the direction of Jason Tramm, the group, established in 1967, welcomes all ages, vocal ranges and skill levels. For 58 years, the nonprofit, non-sectarian group has shared choral masterworks with Westchester and Putnam counties. It performs locally each Spring and Fall.
The season will culminate later this spring with “Modern Master” on May 10 and 11 in Mt. Kisco and Irvington. The program will feature two major works: Benjamin Britten’s “Rejoice in the Lamb” and Maurice Duruflé’s “Requiem.”
Rehearsals are held every Tuesday, with the first on Tuesday, Jan. 7 at 7:30 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church of Yorktown, 2880 Crompond Road.
“This music is so beautiful to listen to, but it’s even more exciting to learn and sing yourself, surrounded by others who also love it,” David Watson, a tenor in the group, said in a Dec. 17 release. “Anyone who enjoys singing should check us out for a rehearsal or two starting January 7.”
