Mastro named among ‘Women of Distinction’ by Assemblyman Matt Slater

Serafina Mastro was recognized as a Woman of Distinction during a ceremony hosted by Assemblyman Matt Slater at Carmel Town Hall this past Saturday.

A resident of Yorktown Heights since 1991, Mastro was recognized for her civic involvement, volunteer service and professional contributions within the community. She manages the office of her family-owned business, Reliable Oil, which was previously recognized in the New York State Historic Business Preservation Registry.

Mastro has served as chair of the Yorktown Republican Town Committee and twice as vice chair. She has also been involved with several local organizations, including the Yorktown Volunteer Fire Department Women’s Auxiliary, the Circolo da Vinci Italian American Club, the Yorktown Senior Advisory Committee, St. Patrick’s Church Senior Organization and the Yorktown VFW.

Selected through nominations submitted by local municipalities and community leaders throughout the 94th Assembly District, the Women of Distinction recognition honors women for professional achievements, volunteer service and community involvement.

Mastro was honored alongside Marianne Chaluisan of Carmel, Jennifer Cassidy of Southeast, Angela Maass of Patterson, Meg Timone of Somers, Wendy Whetsel of Putnam Valley and Jaime McGlasson of Kent. Slater was joined by local elected officials, family and friends of honorees and past Women of Distinction winners.

During the event, Slater spoke about the contributions of the honorees.

“It’s truly an honor to stand alongside these remarkable women who represent the very best of our communities,” Slater said. “They go above and beyond, both personally and professionally, and remind us of the power of compassion and real leadership. In a time when selflessness is increasingly rare, these women set a shining example.”

Town Supervisor Ed Lachterman also commented on Mastro’s recognition.

“Serafina is such a deserving recipient of this recognition,” Lachterman said. “Her civic, community and business participation has been amazing, including her family business, Reliable Oil, being recognized in the NYS Historic Business Preservation Registry.”
