Rosaria M. McTygue, known lovingly to all as Rose, passed away on June 23, 2026, at Calvary Hospice in the Bronx, New York. Born on May 27, 1935, in Astoria, Queens, to the late Attilio and Josephine Marcelli, Rose lived a life defined by devotion to her family, her faith, and her community.

Rose was a 1953 graduate of Pleasantville High School and took great joy in attending annual reunions to reconnect with lifelong friends. In 1954, she married the love of her life, Charles A. McTygue, with whom she built a family she was deeply proud of. For many years, Rose was a dedicated member of the team at VIP Vision Center in Baldwin Place, New York, where she was respected for her strong work ethic.

Known for her remarkable honesty and warmth, Rose was someone who spoke her mind with a sincerity that earned her the affection of everyone she met. Her kitchen was the heart of the home, where her large holiday meals became a treasured tradition. An avid gardener and crafter, she also found great joy in making dresses for her granddaughter and spending time with those she loved.

Rose’s commitment to service was extraordinary. As a member of the Board of the Yorktown Lions Club, she was honored as Lion of the Year and received the Melvin Jones Fellowship, the highest recognition from Lions Club International. Her Catholic faith guided her life, leading her to serve others through St. Patrick's Bereavement Ministry, the Widows and Widowers group, and the St. Patrick's Seniors.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Charles A. McTygue. Rose is survived by her children, James McTygue (Christine Joseph), Carol Lachterman (Ed), and Michael McTygue (Elleen Nicita); her sister, Ann Marie Cozzubbo; and her grandchildren, Keri Russo (Brian) and Drew McTygue (Deirdre), as well as many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

The family welcomes all who knew and loved Rose to gather in her memory.

"Well done, good and faithful servant. Enter into the joy of your Lord." — Matthew 25:21.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests making a donation in Rose’s memory to Rosary Hill Home in Hawthorne, NY. or to mybrothervinnie.org.
