YORKTOWN, N.Y. — The beautiful game turned ugly the other night when an argument got physical at East Coast Sports and Fitness on Veterans Road in Yorktown Heights, resulting in one woman being hurt and another charged with third-degree assault, a class A misdemeanor.
According to police, things kicked off during a soccer game on the evening of March 13. After an argument broke out between a 29-year-old Danbury resident and another player, the Danbury woman allegedly punched the victim in the mouth with a closed fist and injured her.
The Danbury woman was arrested and taken to police headquarters for processing. She was released on her own recognizance and is due to appear in Yorktown Justice Court at 6 p.m. on April 3. Judge Aviah Cohen-Pierson has issued a temporary order of protection for the victim. Names have been withheld by Halston Media.
