YORKTOWN, N.Y. — Despite the chilly temperatures and a dusting of snow, residents gathered Saturday morning for the fourth Annual Polar Bear Plunge.

The plunge into Sparkle Lake did little to dampen the spirits of some intrepid Yorktowners and their supporters, who braved the cold to benefit the Friends of Yorktown Parks and Recreation and support various local organizations. Bob Giordano, president of Friends of Yorktown Parks and Recreation, and James Martorano Jr., parks and recreation superintendent, who both took the plunge themselves, warmly welcomed and cheered on everyone daring enough to join them.
