It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Mark Lawrence Russo in October 2026. A lifelong resident of Yorktown Heights, New York, Mark was born on November 9, 1960, in Bellefonte, Pennsylvania, to Elizabeth Jean and Roy Lawrence Russo.
As a senior at Yorktown High School, he was among the first cohort of students to attend the Walkabout Program, which combined academic study with community service and backpacking trips. He graduated from Yorktown High School in 1979 and later received a bachelor's degree in fine arts in interior design from the New York School of Interior Design. He was a skilled craftsman who could repair just about anything.
He enjoyed motorcycles, hiking, camping with his family, sharing a nice meal, and making others laugh. A member of the Westchester Adventist Church, he volunteered in its Friday food pantry ministry.
Mark was a loving son, brother, and husband, and an especially loving and supportive father to his daughter, Nicole. He is survived by his daughter, Nicole; his mother, Jean Russo; his wife, Viviam Russo; his stepdaughter, Catalina Florez; and his siblings, Keith Russo, Aileen Bellwood, and Linda Russo.
A memorial Mass will be held at St. Patrick's Stone Church in Yorktown Heights on October 31 at 10:30 a.m. Additionally, friends are invited to gather for hors d'oeuvres and remembrance at Barnwood Grill in Yorktown Heights from noon to 4 p.m. His cremains will be interred at Immaculate Conception Cemetery in McAdoo, Pennsylvania.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing to send condolences are encouraged to dedicate acts of kindness and generosity on his behalf.
