Marie A. Giardina of Mount Kisco passed away peacefully with loved ones by her side on April 11, 2025, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

Marie was born on October 15, 1934 to Frances (Aquista) and Charles Giardina. Marie grew up and enjoyed living all the days of her life in Mount Kisco. She was proud to be able to say that she had five generations in her home for holidays and celebrations. Marie attended school in Mount Kisco and upon graduation from high school, Marie worked at the New York Telephone Company. Marie married Robert Scopelliti and became a devoted wife and mother to her children. Marie took pride in raising her sons and having a welcoming home and she was blessed to be able to fulfill her lifelong dream of being an amazing wife and mother. Marie loved to host parties and holidays with delicious home cooked meals. Later in life, Marie traveled extensively to all corners of the world and became a proud member of the Mount Kisco Lions Club. She also spent countless hours volunteering at the Northern Westchester Hospital. Marie passed on many traditions to her family members and her strength, independence, faith, loyalty and love for her family is something that was admired by all who knew her. One of her favorite quotes she would say to her children was "I gave you roots but I also gave you wings." Marie loved butterflies and how they represent the soul's journey and ability to evolve, change, and embrace new possibilities. Marie was pre-deceased by her parents, her brother, Charles Giardina (Buddy) and her ex-husband Robert Scopelliti (Scopelliti). Marie is survived by her sister, Rosalie Thorn, and her sister-in-law, Liv Giardina. Marie leaves behind two sons, Robert C. Scopelliti (Barbara) of Mount Kisco, Joseph C. Scopelliti (Kim) of Carmel, five grandchildren, Robert Scopelliti, Jr. (Marissa), Diana Lore (Frank), Melissa Monahan (Timothy) Joseph Scopelliti, Jr. (Kelly) Stephanie Taylor (Richard) and later in life two two step-grandchildren Cole and Faith Evans.

The fun adventures and traditions Marie's great-grandchildren experienced will be cherished forever. When Marie was well she showed up for every birthday, dance recital and special event for her great-grandchildren and she made every holiday with them so much brighter. Many of Marie's great-grandchildren were right by her side throughout her courageous cancer battle, which was truly a testament of her love for them and their love for her. Her great-grandchildren will cherish all the memories of their beautiful Nanna. Marie was blessed with thirteen great-grandchildren: Robert C. Scopelliti III, Gwendolyn Scopelliti, Juliana Spano, Christopher R. Spano, Jr., Timothy J. Monahan, Jr. Joseph Spano, Michael Monahan, Daniella Spano, Sophia Scopelliti, Nicholas Lore, Quinn Taylor, Madeline Scopelliti and Reid Taylor. Marie also had many loving nieces and nephews.

Family will receive visitors on Monday, April 21, from 9 to 10:30 a.m. for a brief memorial visitation at Cassidy Flynn Funeral Home in Mount Kisco followed by a funeral mass at 11 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Church. Donations in Marie's memory to the Mount Kisco Lions Club or Northwell Hospice are greatly appreciated.
