Local students to be awarded $1,500 scholarships

On June 5, the Hudson Valley Gateway Chamber Foundation will award 11 scholarships to students from schools across the lower Hudson Valley. Each recipient will receive a $1,500 scholarship to support their continued education, whether they are pursuing a traditional four-year college degree or a career in the skilled trades through vocational training.

Among the recipients are Yorktown High School’s Elona Peechatt and Lakeland High School’s Peyton Colasante.

The ceremony will be held at 8 a.m. at the Franciscan Friars of the Atonement in Garrison, New York, and will feature a congratulatory breakfast followed by a presentation in which scholars will share how they plan to use their awards. The event will also be attended by elected officials from across the region.

The scholarships reflect the foundation’s commitment to expanding access to education and workforce development throughout the lower Hudson Valley. By investing in both academic and vocational pathways, the foundation recognizes that the region’s future depends on developing talent across all fields, from skilled tradespeople to leaders in business, nonprofits and public institutions.

“Supporting local students is one of the most meaningful investments we can make in the future of our region,” said Carole Voisey, executive director of the Hudson Valley Gateway Chamber of Commerce. “These eleven scholars represent the best of what the lower Hudson Valley has to offer, and we are proud to stand behind them as they pursue their goals.”
