Local districts celebrate valedictorians and salutatorians

Brains, talent and a lot of hard work paid off for the top students in local districts, who have been named valedictorians and salutatorians for the Class of 2026.

The students will deliver speeches at their respective graduation ceremonies in late June, celebrating their academic achievements and contributions to extracurricular activities.

Yorktown High School

Yorktown High School has named Max Paul as the Class of 2026 valedictorian and Siddharth Nair as salutatorian. In social media posts, the school congratulated both students and their families on the achievement.

Lakeland High School

Lakeland High School’s valedictorian is Justine Tang, a National Merit semifinalist who plans to major in computer science, mathematics, or pursue a double major in both. The salutatorian is Abhilash Jagannathan, who said AP Chemistry was one of his most enjoyable classes and plans to major in materials science and engineering in college.

Walter Panas High School

At Walter Panas High School, Amanda Parker, a National Merit Commended Student, is the Class of 2026 valedictorian. Parker plans to study environmental science, is a member of the tennis team, and has danced since age 3. Patricia Pelayo is the salutatorian. Pelayo said math and biology are among her favorite subjects and that she has also developed an appreciation for art.

The students will speak at their respective graduation ceremonies in late June 2026.
