Lakeland Copper Beech Middle School to continue remote learning

Pipe damage forces school closure; district aims to resume in-person classes after midwinter recess

Posted

Lakeland Copper Beech Middle School will remain closed to in-person learning and all after-school and evening activities due to significant pipe damage caused by extreme cold weather. The district hopes to return to in-person classes following mid-winter recess on Feb. 23.

Superintendent of Schools Karen Gagliardi said in an update Wednesday that the extended stretch of freezing temperatures put a strain on parts of the building’s infrastructure, leading to several pipe failures.

Gagliardi first announced on Monday that the school would operate remotely while repairs are completed.

Principal Frank Ruolo will continue to communicate directly with families about remote learning schedules.

“We understand that this extended disruption is challenging, and we sincerely appreciate your patience, flexibility, and support as we work to resolve these issues responsibly and completely,” Gagliardi wrote.
