Lachterman named Hudson Valley Jewish Changemaker

Posted

Yorktown Supervisor Ed Lachterman has been selected as one of the 2026 Hudson Valley Jewish Changemakers, an initiative recognizing individuals who contribute to Jewish life and their communities.

The program, led by the office of Rep. Mike Lawler, invites residents across NY-17 to nominate people who strengthen Jewish life, mentor others, lead businesses or nonprofits, or make an impact through public service.

Lachterman said he was honored to receive the recognition and emphasized the importance of protecting religious freedom and combating antisemitism.

“I am deeply honored and humbled to be recognized as a Jewish Changemaker,” Lachterman said. “I have always been proud of my Jewish heritage and believe we have a responsibility to remember the lessons of history and what hatred and indifference can lead to.”

He added that he believes “as an elected official, one of my most important responsibilities is ensuring that every person I represent feels safe and is free to openly practice their faith without fear, intimidation, or hatred.”
