Joseph A. Lifrieri passed away suddenly on Saturday, August 22, 2026. Known to his friends as ‘Lefty’, Joe was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Joe will be remembered for his love of life, energy, and caring nature.
Joe was born in 1955, to Frank and Catherine Lifrieri in Harlem, New York. As a child, he moved to the Bronx where he formed many of his lifelong friendships. It was in the Bronx where he met the love of his life, Loretta Loscuito. Loretta was his partner in every sense and they shared 46 wonderful years of marriage.
Joe received his BBA, magna cum laude, from Iona College in New Rochelle, New York and began his career as an accountant at Deloitte Haskins & Sells. Shortly thereafter, he moved to Pelham Manor, New York to raise his family where he would become an unmistakable fixture of the community. He was actively involved in the Pelham Civic Association, Pelham Little League, The Pelham Memorial High School Booster Club and was Commissioner of the Pelham Recreation Department. He was acknowledged for his impact on the town by receiving the Dr. John Marshall Award for contributions to recreation and youth services, as well as being named Pelham’s ‘Man of the Year’ in 2010.
He was passionate about his work and greatly enjoyed it, making many lifelong friends along the way. After a long successful career, he retired as Managing Director, Assistant Head of Operations at Brown Brothers Harriman, after nearly 20 years at the firm. This was when he transitioned to his favorite job of all, Grandfather.
Joseph is survived by his wife Loretta, daughters Catherine Tevere (Gregory) and Michelle Genco (William), granddaughters Giulia, Emilia, and Liliana.
He was predeceased by his parents Frank and Catherine Lifrieri, his brother Pasquale Lifrieri, and grandson William Joseph Genco.
Visitation will be held at Schuyler Hill in the Bronx on Wednesday, August 26 from 3 to 7 PM. A mass will be held at Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Pelham, New York on Thursday, August 27 at 11 AM. He will be laid to rest at St. Raymond’s Cemetery in the Bronx.
