Jose Antonio ‘Tony’ Vaamonde of Brewster, NY, passed away on March 18, 2025, at the age of 66 from heart failure.

Tony was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico, to Joseph H. and Mary W. Vaamonde. He attended King School in Stamford, Connecticut, before graduating from Phillips Exeter Academy in Exeter, New Hampshire. After graduating high school, Tony went on to receive a bachelor’s degree from the University of Virginia.

Tony was a warehouse manager for Collins Brothers in Brewster, NY. He was a licensed plumber and an avid handyman who could fix anything. In his spare time, he was often tinkering with a repair project and was always happy to help others with their projects. Tony had a sharp mind and loved puzzles: He could solve a Rubik’s cube in no time and complete The New York Times crossword puzzle with no errors … in ink. His family and friends will remember him for his kindness, humility, and sense of humor.

Tony is survived by his mother Mary W. Vaamonde of Seattle, Washington; his sisters Cristina ‘Tina’ Vaamonde of Seattle, Washington, and Lisa Vaamonde of New York, New York; and his nieces Siena and Bianca Mariani of Seattle, Washington. Tony is predeceased by his father Joseph H. Vaamonde.
