Holy guacamole! Friends of Hart Library, Chipotle team up for fundraiser

Do you like burritos with a side of books? How about some salsa with your Salinger?

If so, a new fundraiser to support Hart Library may be for you.

The Friends of the John C. Hart Library will host a fundraising event at Chipotle in Mohegan Lake on Saturday, March 8. The fundraiser will run from 4-8 p.m. at the restaurant located at 3114 E. Main Street.

Friends board member Rick Ward said the organization will receive 25 percent of the sales if customers mention the Friends of the John C. Hart Memorial Library Fundraiser or use the online ordering code (DWT7YMR). The code is valid for all four hours of the fundraiser.

Ward, a Yorktown resident with three children under the age of eight, became a board member four years ago. He said that libraries were a big part of his own childhood.

“I want to make sure that continues for my community, including my children,” he said.

Ward explained that the fundraiser is one way for the organization—which is separate from the library itself—to raise money and support programs for all community members.

Friends President Audrey Sherman said the organization is a non-profit “comprised of community residents who share a commitment to promoting and preserving a strong local library. The Friends of the John C. Hart Library fundraises to help support programs that allow the library to bring free, innovative programs to the community.”
