SHRUB OAK, N.Y. — To celebrate Earth Day (April 22) and Arbor Day (April 25), the John C. Hart Memorial Library hosted a tree-themed story time and craft program on April 26.
Olivia Kim, a children's librarian, said that following the story time, children created their own tree pictures using markers and tissue paper. The event required pre-registration, and those who registered were able to pick up a free eastern white pine sapling provided by Neighborhood Forest.
Kim hopes the event will become an annual tradition at the library. Those who missed this year’s free tree registration can look for next year’s registration opening in February 2026.
