Olivier Rzezwicki is headed to states.
Patrick Connolly, head coach of the Lakeland/Panas/Putnam Valley Rebels men’s varsity swim team, praised Rzezwicki’s work ethic and drive. He said the freshman from Putnam Valley High School sets high expectations for himself and understands that putting in the time and effort in the pool is essential to achieving results.
“Making states is a huge achievement,” Connolly said. “Making states as a freshman is very rare.”
Rzezwicki, who swims year round for the Marlins at a USS Club team out of Mount Kisco, will compete at the New York State High School Swimming Championship on Friday, March 6, at Ithaca College. He follows in the footsteps of his older brother, Gabe who went to states his sophomore, junior and senior seasons.
“He is relied upon to step up for the team in the biggest moments—whether [as] the anchor in our relays or swimming the more difficult races,” Connolly said. “Olivier is fearless and always gives his all”
Connolly said the Rebels family is cheering him on.
“It’s an honor to represent the Lakeland-Panas and Putnam Valley boys swimming at states. Our team has worked hard all season and supported each other every step of the way, and I’m proud to compete for them,” Rzezwicki said. “I want to show what our program is capable of at the highest level. This year is just the beginning, and I truly believe our team will continue to grow and become even stronger in the years ahead.”
