Frederick A. Geyer, 74, of Yorktown Heights, NY, died on Feb 4, 2026 following a long battle with COPD.

Known as “Groucho” by some for his uncanny resemblance to the Marx brother, and simply “G” by many more, Fred had a sharp mind and even sharper sense of humor.

Fred graduated from Hershey High School in 1969, where he was a varsity letterman in football, basketball, baseball, track, and swimming. He attended Shippensburg College before relocating to Maryland. During his life, he also lived in Tampa, FL, Newburgh, NY, New York City, and finally, Yorktown Heights, NY.

He held many different jobs, from a caddy at Hershey Country Club, to a fiber-optic cable installer, to a Shop Rite union member, to various correctional officer and security guard positions before retiring.

He was a history buff whose passions included music, games, and sports - especially baseball, auto racing, and golf. His favorite teams were the Yankees, Eagles, 76ers, and Flyers. He instilled a love of sports and games in his children and all who knew him.

Fred is predeceased by his parents, Charles and Hilda Geyer, and sibling, Darvin Geyer.

He is survived by four children: Stephanie Geyer, Julie Geyer-Rivera (Kevin), and Joseph Geyer (Jana) of NY, and Erin Geyer (Bonnie) of MD; two grandchildren: Ava Geyer and Henry Rivera of NY; siblings: Charles Geyer, Evelena Smith, and Cheryl Bender; as well as nieces and nephews.

He delighted in outdoor grilling, coaching youth sports, and spending time with his grandkids, who lovingly called him “Pop-pops.”
