YORKTOWN, N.Y. — Yorktown is set to become a shopper's paradise next month with its first-ever town-wide marketplace.
The Yorktown Small Business Association, in partnership with the Friends of Yorktown Parks and Recreation, is hosting Nostro Mercato Di Yorktown, Italian for “Our Yorktown Market” on April 26 from 8 a.m.-3 p.m. at the Al Capellini Community and Cultural Center gymnasium.
Organizers said the market’s goal is to support community service organizations, nonprofits, residents as well as small businesses. Entry is free and will open to the public at 9 a.m.
There will be items for sale, raffle prizes, silent auctions, music from local artists and a community table, where community members can place their own brochures, business cards, and marketing.
Fifty tables will be available for rent. Two sizes are offered: 8 feet by 8 feet (one 6-foot table, $40) and 8 feet by 12 feet (two 6-foot tables, $60). Each space includes two chairs. Requests to waive table fees should be directed to Bob Giordano, president of the Yorktown Small Business Association.
“We intend to bring the community together as a show of support for all our community service organizations, not-for-profits, residents, and small businesses,” Giordano said.
The event is designed to give residents an opportunity to sell or buy art, crafts, vintage items, bric-a-brac, and collectibles. Businesses are encouraged to participate to promote awareness of their products and services. Artists can display and sell their work, businesses can showcase their offerings, residents can sell attic treasures and bric-a-brac, and community service organizations can raise funds for their causes.
Space is limited and will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. A completed application (email submissions are acceptable) and prompt payment will secure a spot at the event. Gold, silver, and bronze sponsorships are available to support the event. For more information on sponsorships or to reserve a space, contact Bob Giordano at rgiord19@optonline.net or 914-874-4347.
