Nando lived a life marked by faith, devotion, and service to others. He was a man who carried himself with quiet strength and a warm spirit, and those who knew him were blessed by his kindness and sincerity. His life reflected the values he held dear, and he was guided throughout his days by his Christian faith and by a deep love for his family. He was the kind of man who made others feel welcome, respected, and cared for, and his presence brought comfort and joy to many.

Born and raised in the Bronx, Fernando developed a strong sense of community and responsibility from an early age. He later became the Assistant Vice President of Community Affairs at Ponce de Leon Federal Bank, where he was known for his dedication, leadership, and commitment to helping the community. Through his work, he touched many lives and earned the respect of colleagues and neighbors alike.

Fernando was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Nydia Betancourt-Lopez, and a proud father to his son, Andrew Betancourt-Lopez. He cherished his role within his family and valued the close bonds he shared with those he loved. He was preceded in death by his father, Jose Lopez, and is lovingly remembered by his mother, Milagros Lopez. He also leaves behind his brothers, Jose Jr. Lopez, Walter Lopez, Miguel Lopez, and Alberto Lopez, as well as his daughter-in-law, Fedghynie Lopez. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members who will continue to hold his memory close to their hearts.

Family was central to Nando’s life, and he found great joy in being surrounded by those he loved. He was a man who offered encouragement, wisdom, and support, and his family could always count on his steady presence. His love was expressed not only in words, but in the way he lived, in the way he listened, and in the way he cared. The memories he created with his loved ones will remain a source of comfort and strength in the days ahead. Outside of his work and family life, Fernando had many interests that brought him happiness and relaxation. He enjoyed music, movies, dance, comedy, and reading, and he appreciated the simple joys that made life meaningful. These interests reflected his vibrant spirit and his ability to find delight in both thoughtful and joyful moments. His life was a testimony to love, humility, and perseverance, and he leaves behind a legacy that will be remembered with gratitude and affection. Though he is no longer present in body, his spirit lives on in the hearts of his family and friends, and in the many lives he touched through his kindness and service. May Fernando L.
