Recent Yorktown graduate Eva Destito enjoyed a great softball career at Yorktown, where she started as a catcher for all four years of her high school career.
Destito was a captain in both her junior and senior years for the Huskers. As a senior this past spring, she was named All-Section and All-League, while as a junior, she earned All-League and All-Section Honorable Mention honors.
In her sophomore campaign, Destito garnered All-Section and All-League awards in addition to being named League Player of the Year.
How old were you when you started playing softball and what got you started?
At age 6, my parents got me started.
What was your favorite thing about being on the Yorktown softball team?
Sharing memories with my teammates.
What was your favorite team activity or pre- or post-game ritual?
My favorite pre-game ritual was to blast music in the car.
Who has been your biggest role model?
Both of my parents.
Tell us one thing about yourself that not a lot of people know.
I love the beach.
What do you plan to do after high school?
To continue softball in college (Bryant & Stratton College).
What’s your favorite sports team?
New York Yankees.
What was your favorite music to listen to while warming up for a game?
House music or rap.
If you could pick one place to visit on vacation that you’ve never been to, where would you go?
Ibiza.
What would you say to a young athlete thinking about trying out for the Yorktown softball team?
Have as much fun as you can.
