Ethel R. Murphy of Brookfield, CT, passed away on Tuesday, January 21, 2025, at home in Brookfield, CT at the age of 95.
Ethel was born March 15, 1929, in Yonkers, NY, daughter of the late Harry and Edna (Nodine) Russell. She graduated from Roosevelt High School in Yonkers. On September 15, 1951, she married Francis X. Murphy in Yonkers, NY. In 1976 they moved to Brewster, NY. Francis predeceased Ethel in 2019. Ethel loved knitting, traveling to Cape Cod, horse racing, baseball and, most of all, her grandchildren.
Ethel is survived by her daughters Patricia Kanuk of FL and Frances Owens of NY, five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Calling Hours will be held on Monday, January 27, 2025, at Beecher Funeral Home, 1 Putnam Ave., Brewster, NY from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. with a service during calling hours at the funeral home at 11:30 a.m. The interment will be in Oakland Cemetery in Yonkers, NY.
