Dorothy Kovaly, 84, of Yorktown Heights, NY passed away peacefully at home following a gracious battle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia.
Born and raised in the Bronx, she attended the public schools of New York City and eventually became a Unit Coordinator of Special Education where she touched many lives before retiring in 2007.
She most enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, large family and cherished friends; had a joy of painting, gardening, scrapbooking, traveling and loved a good sale when shopping; volunteered time with the Greek Ladies Philoptochos Society which she truly enjoyed and was well known for baking the most delicious baklava!
Dorothy is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Joseph; son, Joseph (Kim); daughter, Katharine Pappas (Peter) and preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Elizabeth Berry and loving brother Nicholas Pantelides. Proud Yiayia to Joseph (Christine) Kovaly; Mathew Kovaly; Alexa Berry, Nicholas Pappas and Sophia Pappas.
Dorothy will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered for her light and optimism by all who knew her .
May her memory be eternal.
