Ramzi Done pitched 5.1 innings, allowing just 1 hit and walking none while striking out seven to lead Lakeland to a 3-0 win in its opener against Ossining. Done entered the sixth inning with a perfect game. 

“It felt great to go out there and do my job, especially on opening day,” Done said. “I was just focused on throwing strikes and helping the team however I could, so being able to contribute to the win made it even better.” 

Kevin Brown (1.2 innings pitched, 1 hit, 2 strikeouts) earned the save while Brown (1-3, 2 RBI), Louie Vernagallo (1-3, run, stolen base), Jake Consiglio (1-2, RBI, stolen base) and Luke Aurigemma (first varsity hit) produced offensively for the Hornets.

Friday, March 27, Lakeland High School  

Done (2-3, RBI), Vernagallo (1-3, double) and Ryan Battista (1-2 run) paced Lakeland in its 12-1 loss to sister school Walter Panas.

Trailing 9-5 going into the fourth quarter, CC Savastano scored five unanswered goals to give Lakeland/Panas a thrilling 10-9 op opening-day win over Carmel.   

“It felt great, especially being able to help the team come back and get the win,” Savastano said. “I just stayed aggressive, trusted my teammates to set me up and took advantage of the opportunities I got. It was really a team effort.” 

That team effort came about because of a few factors. 

“We stayed composed and trusted each other,” Savastano said. “Our defense stepped up, we got stops, and our offense started clicking. It really just came down to effort and stepping up when it mattered most.” 

Jesse DiPaola (2G, 2A), Anthony Ray (1G), Keaton Wolf (1G), Aaron Federoff (1G) and Dan Horowitz (12 saves) also contributed to the victory.  
Shenendehowa 7, Lakeland/Panas 5 

Saturday, March 28, Shenendehowa High School 

Lakeland/Panas fell to Albany-area power Shenendehowa 7-5, led by DiPaola (3G), Anthony Costa (2G), Ray (2A), Dan Horowitz (15 saves), Nate Horowitz (5/8 face-offs) and Frank Flannery (4/7 face-offs).

Tuesday, March 24, Mahopac High School 

Five sacks by Sydney Soliz helped ignite Yorktown to a 6-0 opening-day victory against rival Mahopac.  

“A big part of my success is my mindset going into games, especially against our biggest rivals,” Soliz said. “I tune everything out and am laser-focused on the quarterback and getting the job done. It is very motivating to start off on such a high note and makes me excited for the rest of the season.” 

Kayleigh Hung (2 sacks) and Chloe Quiles (1 interception) also produced defensively for the Huskers while their offensive effort was highlighted by a 56-yard touchdown pass from Jordan Vaught to Erin Duffy, with Sophia Marcello (33 yards) and Maddy Reilly (27 yards) leading Yorktown on the ground.  

Heilee Leonardo helped the Huskers’ cause with 26 punt-return yards.

Thursday, March 26, Somers High School  

Marcello (73 passing yards, 1 TD, 28 rushing yards), Eva Monaco (23 rushing yards, 1 TD, 28 receiving yards), Keira Mooney (59 receiving yards, 1 TD), Reilly (24 receiving yards) and Soliz (3 sacks), led Yorktown to a 14-0 victory against another rival, this time Somers.  

Stephanie Douglas, Mia Spiniello and Hung each contributed a sack apiece while Liv DelGaudio and Sofia Gentile both recorded an interception for Yorktown.

Yorktown won its third in a row with a 26-6 triumph against Ossining in its home opener.

Tuesday, March 24, Hendrick Hudson High School 

Caroline Leonard (3 defensive interceptions, 1 for TD, 3 catches, 102 yards, 2 TDs), Amelia Calisi (7 total tackles, 4 sacks, 1 pass deflection),  

Alexa Marrico (62 rushing yards) and Aditi Parambath (118 passing yards, 2 TDs, 2 throwing extra points, 30 rushing yards, 1 TD) propelled Lakeland to its first win of the season in a 26-6 triumph against Hendrick Hudson.  

“It always feels great to get a win, but the first one is always special,” Leonard said. “We’ve been putting in a lot of work, so it was really rewarding to see it pay off. Getting that first win of the season means a lot because it sets the tone for us moving forward and builds our confidence as a team. It shows what we’re capable doing when we play together and stay focused.”

Kacey Chin (5 tackles, pick six), Leonard (5 tackles, 1 interception), Mackenzie Latorre (6 tackles, 2 pass deflections), Ava Stabile (3 tackles, 1 for loss, 1 interception), Calisi (1 tackle, 4 sacks, 1 interception, 7-yard catch, 1 TD, 12 rushing yards) and Marrico (60 yards rushing, 30 punt-return yards) did the damage for the Hornets in their 12-0 victory versus Ossining.

Friday, March 27, John Jay-EF High School  

Caroline Daly (5 sacks), Leonard (4 catches, 50 yards, 1 TD),  Calisi (5 total tackles, 4 sacks, 2 catches, 23 yards, 2 TDs), Marrico (98 rushing yards, 2 TDs) and Parambath (83 passing yards, 3 passing TDs) led Lakeland to a 35-8 victory against Wappingers, for its third win in a row.

Wednesday, March 25, Walter Panas High School  

Lakeland opened its season by defeating Walter Panas 6-1, led by Liliana Aguirre (3-4, single, double, triple, 3 runs, RBI) and  

Nicole Mautone (2-4, single, double, 3 RBI, 7 innings, 5 strikeouts).  

“It felt great contributing on both ends, especially because we started off the season strong with a good win against our rivals,” Mautone said.

Friday, March 27, Mahopac Falls Academy 

Mahopac had a walk-off hit to defeat Lakeland 10-9, with the Hornets led by Aguirre (4 for 5, single, 2 doubles, triple, RBI), Taryn Bruno (3-3, single, 2 doubles, 3 RBI), Gianna Santini (3-4, 3 singles, 2 RBI) and Mautone (7 innings, 5 strikeouts).

Yorktown fell to Carmel 12-9 in its opener, with Mia Horn (2-5), Adrianna Barca (2-3, 2 runs, RBI, walk), Kaitlyn Horn (2-4, run, RBI), Sofia Sladek (2-3, 2 runs, 2 RBI, walk) and Alicia Cinicolo (2-4, run) having two hits each for the Huskers.  

On the mound, Yorktown’s Kate Brown struck out five, allowing two walks and six base hits.

Friday, March 27, Yorktown High School  

Nina Fasce (2-4, 2 runs, stolen base), Cinicolo (2-4, double, run, RBI), Barca (2-4, homer, run, 4 RBI), Brown (2-4, 2 doubles), Sienna Katzenburg (2-3, 2 runs, RBI), Mia Horn (2-4, double, triple, 2 runs, 2 RBI) and Ally Pace (3-3, 3 runs, RBI, stolen base) powered Yorktown to its first win of the season in a 17-5 triumph against Walter Panas.  

“I think we hit so well because we came into the game really focused and ready,” Barca said. “We’ve put in a lot of hard work at practice, especially on staying disciplined at the plate and it showed. We also have a great team dynamic this year, everyone supports each other and we have a lot of talent both in the field and at the plate.” 

Brown won the game on the mound, with a 6-inning complete game, striking out six.  

“When Kate is pitching, she gives it everything she has, so we know we have to have her back by making the plays in the field and scoring runs,” Barca said. “It really felt like a full team effort, and the energy in the dugout helped us stay confident the whole game.” 

Barca said that getting the first win of the season really felt great.  

“It gave us a lot of confidence and showed what we can do when we play together,” Barca said. “We all have the same goal this season and this felt like a big step in the right direction. We’re excited to keep building on it and are really excited for the season.” 

Yorktown Girls Lacrosse (2-0) 

Yorktown 10, South Side 8 

Friday, March 27, Yorktown High School  

Sydney Sateriale (4G, 1A, 3 draw controls), Ava Ryan (3G), Lily Diaz (2G, 3 draw controls), Gianna Boucher (1G), Annie Cunneen (1A, 8 draw controls) and Sam Conboy (8 saves) paced Yorktown in its 10-8 victory against South Side, which won its first every Nassau County championship in 2025.  

Yorktown held South Side junior attacker Skye Korten, an Albany-commit and Newsday Top 100 selection who tallied 37 goals and 21 assists last season, to just one goal.  

Sateriale said the win “meant a lot, especially having it being such a difficult game.” 

She added that the team “worked very well together and knew when it was time to hold the ball and when it was time to drive. Our team has grown incredibly close over the past few weeks and to see it really show on the field is great.”

Monday, March 23, John Jay-CR High School 

Veronica Lynch (10 saves), Brooke Pizzarello (6G), Gabby Goldstein (3G) and Emma Stewart (1G) paced Lakeland/Panas in its 14-10 loss to John Jay-Cross River in its opener.  

Lakeland/Panas 11, Magnus 8 

Wednesday, March 25, Lakeland High School 

Pizzarello (5G), Goldstein (2G, 1A), Mya Wilkowski (1G, 1A), Brooke Stewart (1G, 1A), Sophia Hoffman (1G, 1A), Emma Stewart (1G) and Lynch (6 saves) ignited Lakeland/Panas to a 11-8 win in its home opener against Albertus Magnus.  

“It feels great to get that first win at home,” Pizzarello said. “I think what really enabled us to come away with it was our teamwork and composure. It was a tough game, but we stayed focused, trusted each other, and executed when it mattered most. Our defense stepped up with big stops, and we capitalized on our opportunities on offense and fixed any mistakes right away.”
