Bronx man pleads guilty in fentanyl death of Yorktown Heights woman

Posted

A Bronx man pleaded guilty Thursday to federal drug trafficking and firearms charges stemming from the fentanyl-related death of a Yorktown Heights woman last year.

The woman was found unconscious by family members April 13, 2025, at her home and was taken to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Authorities said several yellow glassine envelopes containing fentanyl were recovered from the residence. Video surveillance showed the same type of glassines had been sold to her the day before in a bank vestibule in the Bronx.

Teddy Caceres, 43, pleaded guilty in connection with her death and also faces additional drug and weapons charges.

Yorktown Police Department Crime Initiative Unit Detective Jim Hannigan was instrumental in the arrest and in locating the suspect. Hannigan is also a deputized member of the FBI Safe Streets Task Force.

Federal sentencing guidelines typically call for a prison term of about 12 to 26 years for offenses like those Caceres pleaded guilty to, though the charges carry a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years. He is scheduled to be sentenced Nov. 24.
