More than 460 people gathered Saturday, May 9, for BluePath Service Dogs’ 10th annual Walkathon, braving chilly drizzle and cloudy skies to support the organization and celebrate a milestone year.
“Despite the cloudy skies and rainy forecast, our community showed up with incredible energy and heart for our 10th annual Walkathon,” said Erica Stanzione, Director of Marketing and Development, BluePath Service Dogs. “Seeing so many smiles, families, and supporters come together made this milestone event truly unforgettable.”
Company staff members, volunteers and employees from sponsoring organizations contributed to the large turnout, helping create a festive atmosphere throughout the day.
Held at a scenic park, the event featured both 1.7-mile and 3-mile walk routes. Families and supporters also enjoyed activities and refreshments throughout the event.
Ladder 57 from Bedford Hills offered tours of its fire truck for children, while food trucks serving tacos, wraps and Mr. Softie ice cream helped keep participants refreshed. A bubble truck entertained children and parents alike, filling the park with bubbles and laughter.
Dozens of service dogs representing a variety of breeds also participated in the Walkathon, enjoying the spring outing alongside attendees.
