YPD collecting donations for Captain Kenneth Sgroi Act of Kindness Day

March 16 will mark the third annual “Captain Kenneth Sgroi Act of Kindness Day” in Yorktown, which honors the life of Yorktown Police Department’s Captain Sgroi, who died suddenly on Jan. 2, 2023. The annual celebration of his life falls on the anniversary of the day he first joined the department and is a tribute to his selflessness in helping others through collecting donations for local organizations, including United for the Troops and Alliance for Safe Kids. 

In a Facebook post to the department's page, Chief of Police Robert Noble said it's their hope to make a collective donation in Sgroi's name to those two organizations on the morning of March 13. Family, friends and colleagues of Sgroi will be present that morning.
