The Yorktown Police Department will host its annual National Night Out event on Tuesday, Aug. 4, the agency’s largest community outreach event of the year, offering residents an opportunity to meet local officers and enjoy an evening of food, games and activities.
The event will mark the first National Night Out for Police Chief Justin Foley since he assumed the role in June.
The event will take place from 6 to 9 p.m. at Jack DeVito Field Veterans Plaza.
Activities will include music from DJ Frank, bouncy houses, food trucks and demonstrations featuring the department’s K9 unit. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet YPD K9 officers Dallas and Spar, along with their handlers, Detective Sgt. Beyrer and Officer Campion.
The event also will feature Yorktown Police motorcycles, the department’s new Bicycle Unit e-bikes and a Utility Terrain Vehicle.
National Night Out is an annual community-building event designed to strengthen relationships between law enforcement and the communities they serve.
This week’s Town Board meeting, which is typically held on Tuesdays, will instead take place Wednesday, Aug. 5, due to the community-wide event. The public meeting will begin at 7:30 p.m.
