YORKTOWN, N.Y. — A 35-year-old Yorktown man was arrested on Wednesday, Aug. 6 following a domestic incident in which he allegedly threatened someone with a kitchen knife, according to the Yorktown Police Department.
On the night prior (Aug. 5), officers responded to a report of a domestic dispute on Baron De Hirsch Road. Upon arrival, police conducted an investigation and determined that Cliff Mascarenhas allegedly removed a kitchen knife from a drawer and threatened the victim, who feared for his life.
The department said that officers on the scene attempted to make contact with Mascarenhas, but he refused come out of the house. YPD said officers eventually cleared the scene without making an arrest.
The following evening (Aug. 6), officers conducted a traffic stop and identified the driver as Mascarenhas. He was arrested and transported to Yorktown Police Headquarters for processing.
He was charged with second-degree menacing, a class A misdemeanor. A temporary order of protection was issued on behalf of the victim.
Mascarenhas is due to appear in Yorktown Justice Court on Tuesday, Aug. 19, at 6 p.m.
