Women’s Civic Club of Katonah welcomes the Year of the Snake

KATONAH, N.Y. - It was a “red sea” at the Women’s Civic Club of Katonah on Wednesday, Feb. 12, as members celebrated the Chinese New Year and welcomed the Year of the Snake.

Most attendees wore red, the color signifying good fortune.

They didn’t scale back, feasting on a delicious lunch from Tenga with Valentine's goodies for dessert. Afterward, Treasurer Ling Lou taught the group how to make spring rolls, which became takeout.

Cheers and applause greeted Sharon Ballen’s announcement of a banner January in the Thrift Shop, which provides the funds for the club’s many charities. Connie Jakola and her education committee are currently processing applications for the scholarships the club gives deserving local seniors every year.

There was plenty of snow outside, but warm hearts and fellowship within!
