KATONAH, N.Y. - On Wednesday, March 12, the Women’s Civic Club of Katonah held its Annual Fashion Show.
Members modeled their selections from the club’s thrift shop after a lunch catered by the ever-popular Blue Dolphin. Sales benefit the club’s many charities, which this year include sixteen scholarships to graduating seniors from the Fox Lane and John Jay High Schools.
Special guests are always invited to share the fun. This time it was Town Supervisor Ellen Calves and Town Trustee Stephanie McCaine mingling with the crowd. Visiting officers from other area clubs were seated at a VIP table and included Karen Hanrathy (President, Bedford Hills), Robin Cooke (Co-President, Peekskill/Cortlandt), Isabel Hoffman (President, Mamoranack) and Joanne Rosamond (President of the Westchester Federation of Women’s Clubs0.
Emcee Jean Goldsmith Youtz introduced the show with a brief acknowledgment of the power of fashion in shaping self-image. Then, eleven models in thirty-eight different styles strutted down the runway to appreciative applause.
The shop is currently stuffed with brand new springtime bargains, ranging from the sorts of dramatic looks on display at the show to floral wreaths and ideal Easter and Mother’s Day gifts. Hours are from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Thursdays through Saturdays.
