Woman injured in vehicle rollover among police reports from Mount Kisco

A woman was hospitalized after being injured by her own car on Sept. 29.

Officers responded to the 300 block of North Bedford Road at 3:49 p.m. on a report that a woman was run over by her own vehicle. The woman, who is in her 70s, left her car in neutral when she exited and it rolled backward and knocked her down when she walked behind it. The woman, who was conscious and alert upon officers’ arrival, was aided by staff from a nearby medical office as EMS responded. She was taken by Mount Kisco VAC to Westchester Medical Center.

Sept. 26

An officer on patrol reported a tree was down and blocking lanes of travel in the 600 block of East Main Street. DPW advised.

A business on Lexington Avenue reported at 1:38 p.m. that a lost dog was in its parking lot. The owner was located on Gregory Avenue and reunited with the dog.

Multiple officers responded to Carlton Drive at 8:22 p.m. after a resident reported hearing a loud noise in her garage and finding one of the garage doors partially elevated. The resident also reported that a garage door opener was recently stolen from her vehicle. Officers checked the garage and perimeter of the home and found no signs of entry. Officers also canvassed the neighborhood but observed no suspicious persons or vehicles.

Sept. 27

A resident of Greeley Court reported at 11:34 a.m. that he saw someone going through his neighbor’s mailbox and drive off in a red SUV.

Motor vehicle accident reported at 3:40 p.m. on North Bedford Road at the Mount Kisco-Bedford border. An officer responded and determined that the accident occurred in Bedford and that the Bedford PD had arrived on scene.

Sept. 29

Report received at 8:58 a.m. of a man yelling at himself and causing a disturbance. An officer located the man, who is known to police, and advised him to keep his voice down to not alarm others.

An officer on patrol on Lexington Avenue at 5:57 p.m. observed a group of men near Sarles Avenue, one of whom was drinking a beer. A 48-year-old man was issued a summons for Public Consumption of an Alcoholic Beverage, a violation.

Sept. 30

Officers responded to a tow yard in Bedford at 8:30 a.m. after staff reported they are being repeatedly harassed by a man whose vehicle was impounded by County Police. Officers advised the man that he needs to bring the required paperwork with him in order for the tow yard to release his car to him. He was also issued a verbal trespass warning advising him that the property owner will file a trespass charge if he continues to harass staff.

Report received at 7:01 p.m. from MTA PD of a teen missing from a Metro-North train. County PD and MTA PD officers canvassed the area around the Mount Kisco station and located the youth at Lexington Avenue and Green Street. County units resumed patrol and turned the matter back over to MTA PD. 

Oct. 1

Report received at 9 a.m. that a construction crew struck a high-pressure gas line on Highland Avenue. Responding officers detected a strong odor of gas and heard a hissing sound from the construction site. The officers immediately requested an expedited Con Edison and Mount Kisco Fire Department response and closed Highland and Dakin avenues to traffic. Gas odor also detected at Mount Kisco Elementary School and evacuation ordered. Bedford Central School District apprised to arrange transport for students and command post established at MKES. Additional County Police resources responded to the village to assist with other calls for service, traffic control, door-to-door notifications to residents near the construction, and evacuation of Mount Kisco Elementary School and the Hillside School. Students were taken to Fox Lane High School while repair work was under way. At 10:50 a.m., officers who responded from outside the village were released to return to their regular assignments. Precinct officers maintained a closure at Highland and Dakin avenues until repair work was concluded and assisted at MKES and Hillside when the students returned to their schools in the afternoon.

A manager of a business on South Moger Avenue called police at 2:28 p.m. to report a suspicious vehicle and express a concern that that the driver was watching people coming in and out of his store. An officer made contact with the driver who was sitting his pickup truck and eating lunch. No condition.
