Fundraising and donation initiative to benefit North Salem’s Friends of Karen

NORTH SALEM, N.Y. - Waterview Hills and Salem Hills Rehabilitation & Healthcare have proudly announced a community and fundraising drive to benefit Friends of Karen, a North Salem-based nonprofit that provides financial, emotional, and practical support for families caring for a child with a critical illness.

A Back-to-School supply drive will be held at both facilities through the second week of August, collecting materials to help children and families served by Friends of Karen prepare for the upcoming school year and ease potential financial burdens.

The community is invited to donate any of the following much-needed items:

Sturdy backpacks (such as JanSport)

Gift cards to Target, Amazon, or Walmart

Crayola washable or fine-tip markers

Crayola colored pencils

1 and 3-subject spiral notebooks

Highlighters

1 and 2-inch binders with dividers

Zippered pencil cass

Dry erase markers

Filler paper (wide and college-ruled)

Two-pocket poly folders

Post-It notes

Ruled index cards

Plastic supply boxes

Marble notebooks

Glue sticks

Blue and black ballpoint pens

Ticonderoga #2 pencils

Blunt scissors for children

Eraser caps

Headphones or earbuds

Water bottles

A representative from Friends of Karen will visit both facilities at the end of the rive and collect the donated supplies to ensure they are distributed to the children and families they serve.

Your generosity can help make the transition back to school a little easier for children whose families are facing extraordinary challenges. Every donation, no matter the size, will make a meaningful difference.
