SOUTH SALEM, N.Y. - The Vista Fire Department welcomed community members, families, friends and neighboring emergency service agencies to the Vista Firehouse on Saturday, Oct. 3, for its annual Pizza Night & Open House.
Guests enjoyed homemade pizza, live music, fire truck rides, apparatus tours, fire and EMS demonstrations, and the department’s annual silent auction. The event also gave visitors an opportunity to meet department members, learn about the services they provide and find out how to get involved as a volunteer firefighter, emergency medical technician or apparatus driver.
The department extended its appreciation to everyone who attended and supported this year’s event, with a special thank you to Angelo Competiello and Alta Irpinia in Suffern for donating food and helping members prepare the pizzas served throughout the evening.
New Canaan’s School of Rock provided live music during the event.
The department also thanked those who contributed to the silent auction, including Essie Cohen Makeup, Jess DeVito of Wild Suns Sourdough, Ring’s End, Brian Smith, the New York Giants, New York Jets and New York Knicks.
Auction items included a one-hour makeup lesson, sourdough bread and dog-themed gift baskets, a Ring’s End gift card, a car emergency kit, handcrafted wooden boards, hand tools and accessories, professional sports memorabilia, and an opportunity to ride to school in a Vista fire truck.
The Vista Volunteer Fire Department thanked everyone who attended, donated, volunteered, cooked, served, performed or worked behind the scenes to make the event possible. The department said the community’s continued support helps it carry out its mission of serving its neighbors.
