YORKTOWN HEIGHTS, N.Y.—Two women were arrested on Tuesday afternoon in connection with a theft from a local liquor store, according to the Yorktown Police Department.
Yolanda Emery, 65, of Yonkers, and Summer Johnson, 26, of Fishkill, are each facing petit larceny charges after allegedly stealing more than $500 worth of merchandise from All Seasons Wine & Spirits on Crompond Road.
The department said it received a call from store staff just before 4 p.m. on July 15, reporting that two individuals had just left the store without paying for items valued at $532.93.
Officers gathered a description of the suspects and their vehicle, and soon located a matching vehicle traveling southbound on the Taconic State Parkway, near Exit 11. A traffic stop was conducted and, following an investigation, police alleged that Emery and Johnson had acted together to commit the theft. Both were taken into custody and transported to Yorktown Police Headquarters for processing.
Afterward, Emery was turned over to the Clarkstown Police Department on an unrelated active warrant. Johnson was released on her own recognizance.
Both women are scheduled to appear in Yorktown Justice Court on Tuesday, Aug. 5 at 6 p.m.
