Two men accused of stealing more than $500 in merchandise from Home Depot were arrested after state troopers tracked them down in Peekskill, where police also charged the alleged getaway driver with multiple felonies after he was found to be intoxicated, according to New York State Police.

Troopers responded to the Home Depot on East Main Street in Mohegan Lake at about 12:30 p.m. Thursday after receiving a report of a larceny. Store loss prevention personnel reported that three men had left the store and were traveling toward Peekskill.

Troopers located three individuals matching the descriptions on Bank Street in Peekskill. Police said an investigation determined that Christopher Caguana-Uzho, 19, of Peekskill, and Santiago J. Quinatoa Osorio, 24, of Cortlandt Manor, attempted to steal more than $500 in merchandise from the store.

Police said the driver of the vehicle, Jonathan Maldonado, 27, of Peekskill, showed signs of intoxication during the investigation. After field sobriety tests, he was taken into custody and transported to the State Police barracks in Cortlandt, where he allegedly registered a blood alcohol content of 0.35 percent.

Caguana-Uzho and Quinatoa Osorio were each charged with petit larceny, a Class A misdemeanor, and issued appearance tickets directing them to appear in Town of Cortlandt Court on Aug. 24.

Maldonado was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated (three prior convictions), driving while intoxicated (three prior convictions), both Class D felonies, and first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, a Class E felony. He was arraigned in Village of Buchanan Court and remanded to the Westchester County Jail.
