Yorktown has plenty to do, with upcoming events offering something for families, history buffs, gardeners, book lovers and those looking to support local causes.

A free rabies vaccine clinic is being held for dogs, cats, and ferrets from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 26, at the SPCA of Westchester, 590 North State Road, Briarcliff Manor.
It is being sponsored by the Westchester County Department of Health.
Westchester residents can make an appointment by calling (914) 941-2896, ext. 110. They are asked to bring along proof of prior rabies vaccinations, if available.
Teatown will host Hudson Valley storyteller Jonathan Kruk for two programs exploring the region’s Revolutionary-era history on Saturday, Sept. 26. “Teatown Tales,” a family program featuring storytelling, music and audience participation, will run from 2 to 3 p.m. “Revolutionary Teatown!” will take place from 6 to 7:30 p.m. and will explore Teatown’s Revolutionary-era history through storytelling and music. The adults-only evening program includes refreshments, beer and wine and will serve as a fundraiser for Teatown’s campus transformation. Advance registration is required.
The Friends of the John C. Hart Library’s annual book sale is underway. It continues 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 26; noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 27; and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday, Sept. 28.
A bake sale will be held Saturday, while raffle tickets for an iPad basket and a 50-50 raffle will be available throughout the four-day event. Monday will be $5 Bag Day.
The 12th annual Run for Recovery 5K Run/Walk will take place 9 a.m. Friday, Sept. 26, at FDR State Park -Lot 1. A virtual participation option will be available throughout September in recognition of National Recovery Month. Organized by Run 4 Recovery, Drug Crisis in Our Backyard, Search for Change and the Alliance for Safe Kids, the event supports individuals in recovery and raises awareness about substance use recovery efforts.

The Garden and Landscape Show will be held Sept. 26 at 2610 Amawalk Rd. beginning at 9 a.m. The six-hour event will feature arborists, landscapers and designers offering education, networking and inspiration for local homeowners.
A Living History Experience at Amawalk Meeting House will take place Sept. 26-27 from 1 to 5 p.m. The immersive event will blend history and storytelling, featuring Revolutionary War and Quaker heritage, a guided tour of the historic meeting house and its burial grounds, and a living history portrayal of Sarah Underhill, a mother of 11 who navigated the dangers of the Revolutionary War.
The 8th annual Leslie Grace Mansell Run/Walk to End Colorectal Cancer will be held Sept. 27 at FDR State Park. Check-in and T-shirt pickup begin at 9:30 a.m., opening remarks at 10:15 a.m. and the run/walk at 10:45 a.m. Participants can run, walk, cheer from the sidelines or participate virtually. The event honors Leslie Mansell of Cortlandt Manor, who died after a two-year battle with stage 4 colon cancer, and raises awareness and funds for colorectal cancer research.
Feeding Westchester and Freedom Chapel will host a mobile food pantry for community members seeking food assistance Sunday, Sept. 27, from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at Jefferson on the Lake, 489 E. Main St. in Jefferson Valley.
The Jack DeVito Foundation will host its 31st Annual Golf Outing on Monday, Sept. 28, at Anglebrook Golf Club in Somers to raise money for programs benefiting underprivileged children and families in Westchester County. Proceeds will support initiatives including emergency shelters, daycare tuition assistance, services for children with special needs, local food pantries, back-to-school supplies and other programs for children and families in need. Yorktown Stage will present “Cabaret” Oct. 2 at 7 p.m. and Oct. 3 at 1 p.m. at Yorktown Stage, 268 Veterans Rd. The production, performed by an elite cast of high school students, is set in a Berlin nightclub as the 1920s come to a close. The show explores mature themes and is rated PG-13.
