Things to do in Yorktown Aug. 28 - Sept. 3

From fun at Yorktown’s hidden gem, the Yorktown Museum, to art exhibits and more, get involved in Yorktown this week with these events, meetings and activities.

Dollhouse Workshop

The Dollhouse Workshop will take place continue through Aug. 28 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Yorktown Museum, located on the top floor of the Albert A. Capellini Community & Cultural Center at 1974 Commerce St.

Participants can visit the museum’s Miniature Room before assembling and decorating their own cardboard dollhouse. The fee is $10, cash only. Adults are required to stay with children, as this is not a drop-off program.

Volunteer Firefighter Recruitment

The Yorktown Heights Volunteer Fire Department is accepting applications for its 2026 fall/winter probationary volunteer firefighter orientation program, "Probie Class 26-02." Applications are due Sept. 1. Applicants must be at least 18 years old, or 15 to 17 years old for the Junior Corps Program, and live within the Yorktown Heights Fire District or a neighboring fire district, subject to the fire chief's approval during the interview process.

Completed applications may be submitted on Mondays from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at the Commerce Street Fire Station, 1916 Commerce St. Training and equipment are provided at no cost. Volunteer firefighters also may be eligible for benefits, including the Length of Service Award Program, a fitness reimbursement program and the FASNY Higher Education Learning Plan tuition reimbursement program.

Town Board Regular Meeting

Public session begins 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 1 in Yorktown Town Hall Board Room, 363 Underhill Ave.

Advisory Board on Architecture and Community Appearance (ABACA)

Meeting will be held 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 1 at Albert A. Capellini Community & Cultural Center, Room 209, 1974 Commerce St.

‘Immersive Worlds of Imagination'

The Center for the Digital Arts Gallery at SUNY Westchester Peekskill will present Luke Bellas, a visually focused exhibition on view from Sept. 1 through Dec. 4. Meeting will be held 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 2 at Albert A. Capellini Community & Cultural Center, Room 26, 1974 Commerce St.

Conservation Board

Meeting will be held 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 2, 7:30 p.m. in Yorktown Town Hall Board Room, 363 Underhill Ave.

Recreation Commission

Meeting will be held 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 3 in Yorktown Town Hall Board Room, 363 Underhill Ave.

Senior Citizens Hall of Fame Nominations

Westchester County is accepting nominations for the 44th Annual Senior Citizens Hall of Fame, honoring residents age 60 and older who have made significant contributions to their communities. Nominations are due Sept. 9. The Hall of Fame celebration and luncheon will be held Dec. 4 at the Westchester Marriott in Tarrytown. Hilltop Hanover Farm

Farm Stand, 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.

Browse a range of seasonal offerings, including tomatoes, cucumbers, eggplants, peppers, squash and leafy greens. The farm stand operates Thursdays through Sundays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., until Thanksgiving.
