Open House

From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 19. Come meet the firefighters and EMS members who serve our community every day, get an inside look at what they do, and have some fun while you’re there! Featuring fire and EMS demonstrations, fire truck and ambulance tours, hands-on EMS activities, food and ice cream, a bounce castle, and raffles. Whether you’re a longtime supporter or have never stepped inside a firehouse before, the SVFD would love to see you! To be held at the Lincolndale Firehouse at 119 Primrose Street.

Second Annual Golf Outing

To be held on Wednesday, Sept. 23 at Anglebrook Golf Club. Featuring a four person scramble format, breakfast, and putting contest, followed by an awards ceremony and dinner including an open bar. Senior Monday

From 1 to 2 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 21. This Senior Monday is Salsa Monday! The library will have a quick demo of three salsas and then invite you to sit down to eat and socialize. You will make a fresh salsa, a fruit based salsa and demonstrate how to gussy up store bought salsa. Please notify the library before the start of the program about any allergies. Salsas will be made with and without cilantro! Register online or by calling the library.

Teens Make Nachos!

From 4 to 5 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 21. Who doesn't love nachos? The library will be setting up a nacho bar where teens can mix and match and make their own special nachos, and there will even be dessert nachos! Combine that with friends and music and teens are bound to have fun. Register online or by calling the library.

Free Square Dancing Fun Nights

"Do-si-on down" to Katonah for two Free Square Dancing Fun Nights on Mondays, Sept. 21 and 28 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Katonah Methodist Church Parish Hall at 44 Edgemont Rd in Katonah.

Modern Western Square dancing is a lot of fun, great exercise for both the body and mind and an opportunity to meet new people and make new friends. The attire is casual and no experience is necessary. This event is open to singles, couples and families. For more information, visit www.friendlysquares.org

Celebrate Somers

Celebrate Somers returns to the Somers Towne Center on Saturday, Sept. 26, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., bringing the community together for a day of entertainment and family fun, along with the chance to mingle with local businesses and community organizations. The event will feature performances by Penny Lane Dance Academy, the Somers Cheerleaders and Big Jay from the Harlem Wizards, along with the All Grilled Up food truck, Twisted Gecko Balloons, face painting and more than 60 vendors. Come out and celebrate all that makes Somers such a special community!

A Message from The Friends of the Somers Library

The Friends of the Somers Library have an exciting lineup of events coming up this fall!

We will be at Celebrate Somers on Saturday, Sept. 26, where we will have raffle baskets, totes and other fun accessories for sale! We’re also gearing up for our Annual Book Sale, our biggest fundraiser of the year. Books, games, puzzles and DVD donations are currently being accepted and the sale will be held Nov. 13–15. Start setting aside your gently used donations now! The Friends will also be hosting a Tellebration: an International Storytelling Festival at Somers Library, at 10 a.m. on Nov. 21.
