Summer may be winding down, but there’s still plenty to do in Mount Kisco, Bedford, Bedford Hills and Pound Ridge. Here are some highlights for the final days of August, along with a look at what’s ahead in September.

Auction for the Arts Council

Mount Kisco Arts Council is auctioning “Empire Beats,” an original 30-by-40-inch acrylic painting by local artist Monique Ford created live during the council’s Aug. 6 Summer Concert in Fountain Park. Proceeds will benefit the Arts Council and support community arts programming. Bidding starts at $300, and the auction closes Aug. 31. mountkiscoartscouncil.com.

Writers Circle

Writers of all levels and genres are invited to a Writing Circle at Curio Room, 141 Main St., Mount Kisco, on Sunday, Aug. 30, from 10 a.m. to noon. The morning will offer quiet writing time, an opportunity to connect with other writers and a brief closing check-in. The program is presented by the Mount Kisco Arts Council and Curio Room. Live Music

Post Road Band classic rock, pop, soul and blues music including Tom Petty, Aretha Franklin, Rolling Stones, Eric Clapton, The Cranberries, Linda Ronstadt and Lady Gaga.

SeptemberFest

Mount Kisco’s annual SeptemberFest returns to downtown Friday, Sept. 18, through Sunday, Sept. 20, with carnival rides, live music, food trucks, a beer garden and the Saturday street fair. Admission is free. Friday’s festivities run from 5 to 11 p.m.; Saturday’s street fair is 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., with carnival attractions, food and music continuing from noon to 11 p.m.; and Sunday’s activities begin at noon. The event is presented by the Mount Kisco Chamber of Commerce on South Moger Avenue.

Mount Kisco Farmers and Makers Market

The Mount Kisco Farmers and Makers Market is open from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sundays at Kirby Plaza Park near the Mount Kisco train station.

The market features fresh produce, prepared foods, local artisans, live music, wellness offerings and family activities. It continues weekly through Nov. 22. For more information, visit mkfarmersmarket.com.

Tales & Tots

Pound Ridge Library will host Tales & Tots on Sunday, Aug. 30. The program is geared toward young children and features stories and related activities. For more information and to confirm the program time, visit poundridgelibrary.org.

Tech Tuesday

Busy Bees Storytime

Busy Bees Storytime will be held Wednesday, Sept. 2, from 10:30 to 11 a.m. at Bedford Hills Free Library, 26 Main St. The high-energy program for toddlers and preschoolers features stories, movement and early learning activities. All Abilities Activities

Little Sprouts Storytime

Art Exhibits

“One World Many Cultures: Destinations,” an exhibit of French color pastel works by Eddie Grigg depicting 25 countries, will remain on display through Sunday, Aug. 30, at Mount Kisco Public Library.

At Pound Ridge Library, “The Ground Glass in Pound Ridge” will remain on display through Saturday, Sept. 12, in the Schaffner Room. The photography exhibit features Martin Kienzle’s “Botanicals,” Mitch Achiron’s “NYC: 1970s Street Life,” Markus Peters’ “Thresholds” and Eric Graig’s “Recent Abstractions.”

Tuesday Night Jam

Musicians and music fans are invited to the free Legendary Tuesday Night Jam from 7 to 10 p.m. Tuesdays at the Redline Music Stage at K1, 333 N. Bedford Road, Mount Kisco.

A full backline is provided. Participants need only bring a voice, instrument and enthusiasm for music. For more information, visit risingtidemusicny.com.

Children’s Music

Children can sing and dance along with performer Kurt Gallagher from 10:15 to 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 4, at Pound Ridge Library, 271 Westchester Ave.

Fishing Boat Rentals

Bedford residents can rent fishing boats for use on local reservoirs through Oct. 31. Boats are available from dawn to dusk.

Participants must obtain a free New York City Department of Environmental Protection Access Permit, hold a valid New York State fishing license and complete the town’s boat-registration application and waiver. Rental information is available through the Town of Bedford Recreation and Parks Department.

Car-Seat Safety Event

The Bedford Police Department will hold a child-safety-seat event from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 16, at Mount Kisco Honda, 650 Bedford Road, Bedford Hills.

Certified police officers will assist families with the proper installation of child-safety seats.

Bedford Tri-Festa

Bedford’s Tri-Festa will return from 3 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 19, at Bedford Village Memorial Park, 65 Greenwich Road.

The townwide celebration will feature food trucks, live music, a beer and wine garden, children’s games, family entertainment and community organizations. This year’s event will also include patriotic activities commemorating the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. For more information, visit bedfordny.gov.
