Mount Kisco Remembers 9/11

Mount Kisco will commemorate the 25th anniversary of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks with a memorial service at 6:15 p.m. Friday, Sept. 11, at Village Hall, 104 Main St. The public is invited to attend the longstanding community ceremony, organized with support from the Mount Kisco Volunteer Fire Department and others who have helped make the observance special throughout the years. All are welcome.

SeptemberFest

SeptemberFest returns to downtown Mount Kisco Sept. 18–20, transforming South Moger Avenue into the village’s biggest block party. The free, three-day celebration will feature carnival rides, live music, food trucks, a beer garden and Saturday’s street fair, with fun for all ages. Mount Kisco Chamber of Commerce

Writing Circle at Curio Room

The Mount Kisco Arts Council hosts its monthly Writing Circle on Sunday, Sept. 13, from 10 a.m. to noon at Curio Room, 141 Main St., Mount Kisco. Writers of all levels and genres are invited to bring a work in progress or start something new during a quiet morning of dedicated writing alongside other writers, with time to connect and a brief check-in at the end. Mount Kisco Reading Series

The Mount Kisco Reading Series returns Friday, Sept. 25, at 7 p.m. at Curio Room, 141 Main St., Mount Kisco. Presented by the Mount Kisco Arts Council and Curio Room, the evening features readings by local writers and an opportunity to connect with the local literary community. Admission is free and the event is open to the public.

Swing Dance

Redline Swing returns to Redline Music Stage at K1 (333 N. Bedford Road, Mount Kisco) on Wednesday, Oct. 7.. A dance lesson begins at 7 p.m., followed by live music from 8 to 10 p.m. Admission is $18 early bird, $22 in advance and $28 at the door. All are welcome; no partner is needed. Swingout Rhythm Dance Club is spreading the joy of Lindy Hop and related styles in the lower Hudson Valley area with weekly classes, monthly social dances, and special workshops while building community. Bedford Hills Library

All the Right Notes: Saturday, Sept. 12, 10:30 a.m.–1 p.m. Families are invited to a music-filled morning at the library with activities for children of all ages. Drop in and enjoy a variety of music-themed fun throughout the event. Registration encouraged.

¡Fiesta!: Tuesday, Sept. 15, 10:30–11 a.m. Grammy-nominated artist Flor Bromley brings bilingual stories, music, movement and puppetry to the library in an interactive program presented in English and Spanish. Registration encouraged.

Fine Book Discussion — "My Friends": Friday, Sept. 18, 12:15–1:15 p.m. The library’s monthly adult book group meets at the Bedford Hills Community House to discuss Fredrik Backman’s "My Friends." Large-print copies are available for checkout. Registration encouraged.

Kitten Corner with Rock n' Rescue: Saturday, Sept. 19, 11 a.m.–noon. Spend some time with adoptable kittens from Rock n' Rescue during this drop-in visit to the library’s reading room. Guests can meet, cuddle and play with the kittens while learning more about the local rescue organization. Registration encouraged.

Mount Kisco Public Library offers dozens of events and programs each week. Here are a few highlights for September.

Meditation & Mindfulness with Amy — Wednesday, Sept. 16 and 30, 6-6:30 p.m. Virtual meditation and mindfulness program.

Successfully Navigating College Admissions This Fall — Wednesday, Sept. 16, 7:30-8:30 p.m. Virtual program for students and families preparing for the college admissions process.

Friends of the Library Book Sale — Sunday, Sept. 20, 12:30-3:30 p.m. at the library.

Storytime — Monday, Sept. 14, 21, 28, 11:15 a.m., for young children and caregivers.

Mahjong Intermediate Group Play — Thursdays, 1-4 p.m. Intermediate players can join the library’s regular group.

Affordable Health Care Navigator — Saturdays, 10 a.m.-2 p.m., by appointment, with help enrolling through the NY State of Health Marketplace.

Pound Ridge Library

Pound Ridge Library has a variety of September programs and events planned for children, families and adults.

Children’s Music with Kurt Gallagher: Fridays, Sept. 11, 18 and 25, 10:15–11 a.m. Children can sing, dance and join in with lively, interactive songs led by children’s musician Kurt Gallagher. Children must attend with an adult. Registration is required.

Women and Money: Wednesday, Sept. 16, 1–2 p.m. This virtual financial literacy series for women of all ages explores how to make sense of today’s financial markets. The discussion is led by financial advisers Julia Strayer and Liz Maccarone. Registration is required.

Sip 'N Paint: Thursday, Sept. 17, 6–8 p.m. Artist and teacher Kendall Klingbeil leads adults in creating their own paintings using landscape and floral reference images. Materials and light refreshments are provided. Registration is required; a waitlist is available if the program reaches capacity.

Miniature Golf for Kids: Saturday, Sept. 19, 1–2 p.m. The Children’s Room will be transformed into an indoor miniature golf course with twists, turns and plenty of chances for a hole-in-one. The program is for children ages 2 and older with an accompanying adult. Registration is required.

Photography Club: Saturday, Sept. 19, 10–11 a.m. Photographers of all experience levels are invited to meet fellow enthusiasts, share experiences, discuss techniques and talk about the craft of capturing great images. The group meets in the Schaffner Room.

Tea & Talk: A Women’s Group: Monday, Sept. 28, 4–5:30 p.m. Local women are invited to a new social group designed for conversation, friendship and connection. The first meeting will give participants a chance to help shape the group and the topics it explores. Registration is required.

Bedford Boat Rental

Bedford residents can rent fishing boats for use on local reservoirs through the Town of Bedford Recreation and Parks Department. Boats are available through Oct. 31, from dawn to dusk. Participants must obtain a free New York City Department of Environmental Protection Access Permit, hold a valid New York State fishing license and complete the Bedford boat registration application, waiver and rental payment.

BH Senior Center Programs

The Bedford Hills Senior Center offers a variety of activities, classes and social opportunities throughout the week. Upcoming activities include drop-in Game Day most Mondays from 10 a.m.–1:30 p.m., Morning Movers most Tuesdays at 9 a.m., local shopping trips to ShopRite on most Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10 a.m.–noon, and chair yoga most Wednesdays from 10:30–11:30 a.m. September also includes a writing workshop, book club and other special programs. Farmers Market

The Mt. Kisco Farmers & Makers Market at Kirby Plaza Park near the Mt. Kisco train station runs from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. every Sunday through Nov. 22, featuring fresh produce, prepared foods, local artisans, live music and family-friendly activities. Expanded this year by WMN Unite, the market now includes a broader mix of makers, entrepreneurs, wellness offerings and community programming alongside traditional farm vendors. The Pantry accepting donations

The Pantry, based at the United Methodist Church of Mount Kisco, provides nutritious, culturally relevant food to an average of 700 families from 21 local communities each week. The volunteer-led “choice pantry” offers fresh produce, dairy, grains and protein, allowing guests to select foods they know how to prepare and enjoy. The Pantry also provides home deliveries and relies on volunteers, donors and community support to keep its shelves stocked. Food donations may be dropped off Tuesdays from 9 a.m. to noon at 300 E. Main St., Mount Kisco.

Free Music Jam Session

Tuesday nights from 7 p.m.: For over a decade, The Legendary Tuesday Night Jam has been the event for musicians and music lovers alike. Now, with a new and improved format, it’s bigger and better than ever. Taking place at the Redline Music Stage at K1 Speed (333 N. Bedford Road, Mt.
