Yorktown police reported three recent arrests and enforcement actions, including a juvenile delinquency charge stemming from an alleged assault, a felony attempted assault charge against a Bridgeport, Connecticut, man, and a suspended-license arrest following a traffic stop on Underhill Avenue.
A 16-year-old Cortlandt Manor resident was issued a juvenile appearance ticket July 1 after Yorktown police said the teen allegedly struck another person during an altercation last month.
According to police, officers received a report June 10 of a physical altercation and launched an investigation. Police allege the teen struck the victim in the face, causing pain.
The juvenile, whose identity is being withheld due to eligibility for youthful offender status, was charged with juvenile delinquency. The underlying charge, if committed by an adult, would be attempted third-degree assault, a Class A misdemeanor.
A juvenile appearance ticket was served to the teen's guardian at Yorktown Police Headquarters. The juvenile is scheduled to appear before the Westchester County Department of Probation at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, July 8.
A 29-year-old Bridgeport, Connecticut, man was arrested July 2 after Yorktown police said he allegedly assaulted another man during an altercation in a business parking lot.
Police said officers responded at about 9:36 a.m. to a report of a past physical altercation. The victim told officers he had been assaulted, and an investigation determined the suspect allegedly struck the victim multiple times in the face, head and body, causing physical injury before leaving the scene.
The man later responded to Yorktown Police Department headquarters, where he was arrested and charged with attempted second-degree assault, a Class E felony.
Following arraignment, a temporary order of protection was issued on behalf of the victim. The defendant was released on his own recognizance and is scheduled to appear in Yorktown Justice Court at 6 p.m. on Thursday, July 16.
A 43-year-old Ossining man was arrested July 2 after Yorktown police said he was stopped for allegedly speeding on Underhill Avenue and was found to have a suspended New York driver's license.
According to police, Officer Brandon Montero observed the vehicle traveling at an alleged speed in excess of the posted limit at about 7 p.m. During the traffic stop, a Department of Motor Vehicles check found that the driver's privilege to operate a motor vehicle in New York was allegedly suspended.
He was charged with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, a misdemeanor, as well as unlicensed operator and speeding, both traffic infractions.
He was issued uniform traffic tickets at the scene and released on his own recognizance. He is scheduled to appear in Yorktown Justice Court at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, July 21.
