SOMERS, N.Y. — A Yorktown Heights man has been arrested on felony stalking charges following a complaint of repeated unwanted contact and an unannounced visit to a victim’s home, according to New York State Police.

Michael Portella, 25, was taken into custody on April 5 by State Police and the Bureau of Criminal Investigation in Somers. He has been charged with second-degree stalking, a class E felony.

The arrest stems from a complaint filed on April 4, when State Police in Somers were notified of ongoing unwanted communication. According to investigators, the victim reported that Portella had repeatedly contacted them through social media despite being clearly instructed to stop.

Authorities said the situation escalated when Portella allegedly obtained the victim’s home address on his own and appeared at the residence without notice.

Portella was arraigned in the Town of Somers Court and remanded to the Westchester County Jail in lieu of $10,000 cash bail, $25,000 bond, or a $50,000 partially secured bond. A temporary order of protection has been issued on behalf of the victim.

He was scheduled to return to Somers Town Court on April 6.
