SOMERS, N.Y. - Somers took second place at the 44th Eric D’Agnese Memorial Tournament on Jan. 18 at Somers High School.
Junior captains Ryan Ball (131 lbs) and TJ Mauro (170 lbs) both notched first place finishes. The victory marked Ball’s third consecutive tournament championship, besting teammate Cal Ehrmann in the finals.
Juniors Ethan Steuber (108 lbs) and Ehrmann (131 lbs) took second place, while freshmen Robby DeCamp (101 lbs) and Loghan Dwyer (108 lbs) finished the day in 3rd place.
The squad was back in action at the Westchester County championships on Jan. 25 at Sleepy Hollow High School. For the second straight year, the team would finish the day in second place.
Ball and Steuber would end the day as champions, with Ball being voted Most Outstanding Junior after capturing his second consecutive county championship.
Dwyer and Mauro finished in third place, while Ehrmann and sophomore Derek Kuchinski ended up in fifth.
