Somers first responders race to the scene of multi-car accident

SOMERS, N.Y. - On the evening of Aug. 2, members of the Somers Volunteer Fire Department were on the move after receiving reports of a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Route 116 and Route 202.

The SVFD assessed the patients at the scene, who subsequently refused medical attention and opted not to be transported to an area hospital.

A New York State Police report indicates that the driver of the vehicle that caused the crash was intoxicated and subsequently arrested. 

Units operated at the scene for over an hour as the vehicles were cleared from the road.

The SVFD was assisted at the scene by personnel from the Somers Police Department, Westchester EMS, and New York State Police.
