'Somers Sparkle Drive' looks to keep the holiday glow

Community light display to be held as self-guided event from Dec. 1 – 25

SOMERS, N.Y. - Somers residents are invited to share their holiday spirit in bright, festive fashion during the Somers Sparkle Drive, a community holiday light tour taking place Dec. 1 through Dec. 25. The self-guided experience encourages families to decorate their homes, submit their addresses, and help light up the town with seasonal cheer.

The event—organized by a local resident and not affiliated with any outside organization—was inspired after the announcement that the Somers Lions Club's annual Illuminate Somers tour would not be taking place this year. In response, the Somers Sparkle Drive hopes to keep the excitement alive with a month-long celebration of lights, color, and creativity.

Residents who want to participate can submit their address to be included on the official list of “Sparkling Somers Homes.” Names will not be published, but by signing up, homeowners agree to allow cars to drive by and admire their dazzling décor throughout the month.

Anyone interested in participating can sign up HERE.

Important dates to know:

  • Sign-Up Deadline: Nov. 30. Participants may edit their submissions until 11:59 p.m. that night.

  • Light Display Requirement: Participating homes must keep lights on from 5 to 9 p.m. daily throughout Dec. 1–25.

  • Where to Find the List: Addresses will be posted on Facebook.

  • The drive is entirely informal—no judging, no prizes, and no set route—just an opportunity to sip cocoa, play holiday music in the car, and cruise through neighborhoods glowing with creativity.

As organizers emphasize, participation is voluntary, and only addresses will be shared publicly. All are encouraged to “deck the walls, hang the lights, and let your holiday spirit shine bright!”

With residents eager to keep the seasonal tradition alive, the Somers Sparkle Drive promises to brighten both streets and spirits across town.
