Somers nursing home worker arrested after alleged assault of resident

SOMERS, N.Y. - New York State Police in Somers responded late Friday night to a reported incident at Paramount at Somers Rehabilitation and Nursing Center involving a staff member and a resident.

Troopers were dispatched to the facility at approximately 11:30 p.m. on April 25. An investigation by uniformed members and the Bureau of Criminal Investigation determined that a staff member, identified as Nashecka Moodie, 36, of the Bronx, allegedly spat on and struck a 91-year-old resident.

Moodie was taken into custody and charged with Endangering the Welfare of an Incompetent or Physically Disabled Person in the second degree, a class A misdemeanor, and Harassment in the second degree, a violation.

She was arraigned on April 26 in Somers Town Court and released on her own recognizance. Moodie is scheduled to return to court on April 27 at 5:30 p.m.

Authorities said a full stay-away Order of Protection has been issued on behalf of the victim.
