SOMERS, N.Y. - A Somers man is facing felony charges and more after police say he tried to buy a car from a dealership in Southeast using a fake name and falsified documents.
Investigators from the Putnam County Sheriff's Office were initially called on April 5 and were informed that a suspicious man was attempting to purchase a vehicle valued at more than $68,000 while trying to hide his true identity.
The suspect left before deputies arrived, but on April 12, he returned to the dealership and was allegedly attempting to complete the sale using a fictitious name again. Investigators were called and said they observed the suspect filling out paperwork using the fake name and took him into custody.
David Koraca, 57, of Somers, was taken to the Sheriff's Office where police say he admitted to using a false name to conceal his identity. He was charged with second-degree attempted grand larceny, a class D felony, as well as one count of second degree falsifying business records, and two counts of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, both misdemeanors.
Koraca was arraigned in the Town of Southeast Court and remanded to the Putnam County Correctional Facility due to having multiple prior felony convictions.
